130 Years in the Back of the Yards Community!!!

2017 marked a major milestone for St. Joseph Parish as we celebrated our 130th Anniversary.  Since its inception, St. Joseph Parish has grown along with the community. What started as a Polish Parish built by the Polish migrants who came to the community and worked in the Stock Yards, has turned into a diverse, trilingual community that celebrates masses in English, Spanish and Polish. Our Parish is proud to be a staple in the community and to be able to grow and flourish with the community.  As part of our 130th celebration, on our Patron Saint Day, March 19, we presented a special gift we received from Father Richard Fragomeni and the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, which was a St. Joseph Relic. We now are humbled to house this St. Joseph Relic in addition to the first-class St. John Paul II Relic.

In October in the month of Mary–we brought “Las Reinas de Jalisco” (The Queens of Jalisco, Mexico) to St. Joseph Parish. For the first time in Chicago and possibly the United States, the three images were together under one roof, in our beautiful Parish! This was truly a wonderful event that was made even more memorable by the having the image of the Virgen de Talpa gifted to our Parish. Now we humbly house the Virgen of Talpa at St. Joseph!

We culminated our celebratory year with our 130th Anniversary Gala, held at Mayfield Banquet Hall. This was a great event, with delicious food, great live music and most importantly our St. Joseph Family together celebrating the Church and each other.

Thank you all for helping us celebrate our 130th Anniversary and helping make 2017 such a memorable year! We are ready to continue celebrating many more anniversaries and milestones with you all and leaving our legacy Now & Forever!
